Webinar: demystifying International Recruitment
You need to prepare because investing in talent that will help grow your business is a multi-step process.
Quebec has the lowest unemployment rate in Canada and experts are predicting that the labour shortage will last about 10 years. A survey conducted in spring 2021 with members of the Conseil du patronat du Québec network revealed that 94% of respondents are facing staff recruiting issues, which forces them to cancel or delay investments.
In this context of competition for talent, it’s important to broaden your horizons and adequately plan international recruiting. It takes about six months from the start of the process to the arrival of a foreign worker in your organization, says Ho Sung Kim, lawyer and general manager at AURAY Sourcing Immigration. Additional legal steps need to be taken to obtain a Certificat de sélection du Québec and permanent residence status.
Recruiting from outside Canada requires first demonstrating to government authorities that your search for workers in Canada is unsuccessful. Then, you need to make sure that your company is prepared to offer a good working environment to people from abroad whom you hope to rely on for a long time. According to Wayne Tessier, general manager at AURAY Sourcing International, this is a very important step, both for you and for those you welcome. Don’t leave anything to chance.
When choosing a firm to help you find foreign workers, make sure they offer these three key services to ensure your project’s success:
- Talent acquisition (postings, selection, employment contracts)
- Immigration (strategy, administrative formalities, support)
- Integration (training, welcome, compliance monitoring)
