What is the specialty of SHORE & Associates within AURAY?
We specialize in recruiting lawyers of all levels from Montreal to Quebec City and other regions of the province. We generally work on an exclusive and retained basis, and highly personalize the process based on our clients’ needs, vision and organizational culture. We have over 30 years of experience in identifying and selecting only the most qualified and appropriate candidates for our clients.
How much time will it take to find a lawyer?
Our timelines can vary by mandate, depending on the clients’ needs and the availability on the market. However, we provide initial feedback in 2 weeks’ time at the latest, and we keep clients abreast of any developments every step of the way. Regular communication with the client and appropriate follow-ups are vital to a successful hire and will be required to meet timelines.
What services do you offer? Contingency vs retained?
We work both on exclusive retained mandates and contingency mandates. With exclusive retained mandates, we can focus more time and research on finding the ideal candidate for your role. We request for these searches that the client not work with other recruiters while we conduct our search. We also offer contingency mandates, where the mandate fees are charged only if a candidate is hired. These mandates also require promoting the position, vetting, interviews, and presentation of profiles to the client.
What is your guarantee period?
For our traditional, exclusive retained mandates, we offer a guarantee of replacement of one year for any candidate placed by us that leaves within that timeframe.
Is my candidacy confidential, and who has access to my profile?
All communication with SHORE & Associates and all candidacies are strictly confidential. No information is shared with potential employers without a candidate’s express permission. We understand the sensitivity and discretion necessary in these matters and highly value your trust and our reputation in this regard.
Once you have agreed to present your candidacy to a given employer, we will share your profile only with the relevant members of our client organization, under the explicit understanding that your candidacy is strictly confidential.

Vice President Barbara Shore has worked in the area of executive search for over 30 years, first as Director of the Executive Search Practice for Peat Marwick in Ottawa and then as Director of Peat Marwick Stevenson & Kellogg’s Montreal (now KPMG) Executive Search practice.
