Principales tâches et responsabilités

  • Act as a strategic and tactical consultant to middle and senior management in labour relations matters;
  • Support and advocate best practices in human resources management and labor relations, and make recommendations;
  • Act as a watchdog for human resources management and labor relations, and ensure organizational consistency in the application of various practices with the department’s personnel management officers and managers;
  • Support and coach managers in the exercise of their managerial duties under the leadership framework, to help maintain a motivating work environment;
  • Take charge of complex labor relations files, identifying issues and opportunities, stakeholders and possible solutions, and make recommendations;
  • Promote the development of labour-management relations based on mutual respect and collaboration, within a partnership and problem-solving approach;
  • Support and coach Personnel Officers in their duties and professional development;
  • Participate, support and coach personnel management officers in the application of administrative and disciplinary measures in accordance with established processes;
  • Take charge of and supervise labor relations committees;
  • Develop and deploy advice and interpretations, management tools and training inspired by best practices in labor relations;
  • Ensure and collaborate in the proactive management of grievances;
  • Participate and supervise the conclusion of specific agreements, grievance settlements, conflict and dispute resolutions;
  • Prepare files for grievance arbitration or before the courts; involve and delegate certain files to personnel management officers;
  • Participate in the preparation and negotiation of local provisions of collective agreements, local agreements and arrangements arising from national provisions of collective agreements;
  • Participate in branch management committees for HR matters and, if necessary, liaise with the relevant specialist departments;
  • Deploy a global HR action plan for each department, and follow up periodically with the Director;
  • Lead follow-up meetings on the overall plan, with the aim of identifying preventive or corrective actions to address management issues, and issue recommendations, in collaboration with specialized departments, to propose value-added actions for the departments.

Skills and competencies to excel in the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial relations, human resources management or other relevant discipline;
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in labor relations;
  • Ability to support, coach and develop resources;
  • Thoroughness and good writing skills.
